And, even assuming you're pushing the same overall power (say 400W into one sub, or 200W into each of a pair), and thus the same overall volume, you'll get better sound from the pair, because they'll stay further from their mechanical excursion limits (preventing damage and ugly noises, and keeping them operating in a more linear region of the magnetic field), suffer less thermal compression, and somewhat even out certain types of distortion.

Personally, I'm a big fan of twin 12" sealed setups.

ended up going with 2x12inch sealed pioneer champion series subbs.. getting them installed soon... hopefully they go alright!!!!!

You won't be disappointed with two TS-W307s. I had 2 running at 700wrms, first time I turned them up it was blasting and the hairs on my shins were vibrating, bloody good, and I was running sealed too.
