New Sl/x

hey im kind of new with cars, ive always loved them but had other hobbies that took priority now it's come time to buy a new car which im doing in a couple of months the guy a few doors down is selling a commodore sl/x for $500 nice condition inside and out but with one punctured tire, you think it's worth it, i would also have to pay for rego, any advice anyone could offer me on common problems with that model or anything else don't hesitate to post here,

What engine and transmission does it have?

Don't, I repeat DONT! (I can't stress that enough, lol), get a Tri-Matic, they are just ****!

I had a mate who had a hotted-up VH SL/E 253 Tri-Matic and he blew the transmission! And the engine hadn't been touched (except for a MAD exhaust).
