how can you tell? i'm new to holdens and the guy I bought it from told me it was a series 2.

There's not too much off a difference, so nothing really to worry about.

Series 1 has the woodgrain dash, series 2 has a different finish

also series 2 have different headlights (a bit darker)

oh, and also different style calais badges (just a different text)

other than that theyre pretty much the same as far as i know.

A calais is a great way to start out your love affair with holdens

great colour, good to see a sunroof, good mods you got planned, the only thing i would do is take off the rear spoiler, but thats just personal taste, but its a beautiful car :thumbsup:

Holden also made a slight improvement to the independent rear suspension in the series II to try rectify the tyre wear problem that plagues most of us pre series II VX owners with IRS. You can tell if it's a series two by looking at the compliance plate. Whats the date of manufacture?

it was made in may 2001, so I guess that means its a series 1. Oh well its still very nice
