Are you sure you have put the correct amount of oil in? Filling it to the high mark then starting the car will drop the level a bit. You're obviously checking it on flat ground after it's been off for a few minutes?

The marks on the dipstick are a guide to the correct oil level, if there is oil on the dipstick but just low, there's still plenty of oil in the engine.

Park it somewhere level and top it up until it reads full on the dipstick. Then check over the next few weeks. It would have to be blowing clouds of smoke to be burning the amount you suggest.

You didn't get caught out by the bigger sump in the VY series II and only bought a 5 litre of oil did you?

V6 = 5.6 Litres (includes oil filter)
V8 = 6.2 Litres (includes oil filter)

As greenacc said, level ground, remove dipstick, let it rest for 5min and check - If it still reads low add 500ml, wait 5min and check again... there should be a change,

If there is no change, sorry to ask but who did the oil change?

Good question.
If you did it yourself .......... how long have you had the car, where on the dipstick was the oil level before the change, how much used oil drained out, how much did you put in, what grade was it ?
If you have used the correct grade of oil, some oils are very hard to see on the dipstick when new, due to appearing to be as clear as water.
