So we're thinking of getting a WH Statesman for $3750 in pretty good condition. 1 Owner since new. About 160k k's done on it..
Worth it?

But we're just wondering if the towbar off the VS will fit the WH?

Is there anything i should be checking before i buy?

Cheers :)

Sounds like a good price but it's either a Statesman or a Caprice, can't be both.
The Caprice has a few more features then the Statesman.
Basically just check that everything is working and there are no major leaks, it's rare that there won't be minor oil leaks.
I don't know about the tow bar but if the VS tow bar fits a VT, VX Commodore then it will fit a WH.
I'm sure you will like it if you get it.
6 or 8?

Supposedly the fuel pump could be on the way out? Easy fix for that?
Cd player doesn't work...
Aircon doesn't work.. suspect clutch not engaging?? fixable cheaply?

Sounds like a money pit to me. More you spend on it I bet the more you will find wrong.

To be honest, we'll probably only have it for a year or so..

But.. i don't know how bad the sump leak is yet...
By the looks of things i have to pull the engine out for that?

ok, turns out the wife didn't know what she was talking about...
It's a statesman :) and yes we're buying it..

Sump leak isn't very bad at all...
Aircon DOES actually seem to work, so not sure why they think it doesn't...
Cd player gives E-99 fault code.. will probably look into that..
And i'm not sure what the 'noise' is they mentioned when talking about the fuel pump.. i didn't notice anything..

So is there anything i need to know about a WH Statesman?
It is the Gen III 5.7 V8..

It looks good.
CD player might just need a reset. Reset by holding the ON button for about 10 seconds.

Sounds like a decent buy for that price. Pull the CD player out and clean the laser, that has worked for me in past. Or just get an exhaust instead and listen to the music of 8 cylinders :D

Sump leak is not an easy fix thougn.
