oil for ls1?

the question of which oil to use is entirely up to you,use what your mechanic suggests or go by the logbook etc,if you don't like the oil for any particular reason change to a different blend etc-it is entirely up to you

i was just wondering if a thinner oil would be better if you do lots of short trips
i got some 10w-30 magnatec to give it a try and see what happens

according to the book the 10/30 should be okay,go to Castrol website and type your details in and it will tell you what type of oils are suitable:beer chug:

its done 212k but still sounds nice no rattles or anything
i put magnatec 10w 30 in it and see how it goes

I been using nulon 10w-40 synthetic and after 5000kms, hasn't burnt any at all...
my vy s2 ss ute man, has 105kms on the clock...

used to use the nulon fully synthetic 10w-40, now using Penrite hpr10 which 10w-50 but suited for 40 as well.

I'm using a 15/40 semi synthetic in my LS2 , and it's keeping the lifter rattle at bay nicely . but I'm changing the oil every 3 to 5 K's

b-man if its quite now and has no rattles I would stick with the oil you are using now if you can find out what type of oil it is
