hey all,
just wondering if someone could help me

i have clean the engine bay etc etc... of my vr
now that i have clean it the oil lamp on the dash turn on
after about 5 secs of the engine being on
anyone have a clue
could it be bit of water on a sensor
yes it does have oil in the engine as it was serviced on friday

if you need more details let me know??

If you cleaned the engine using a hose or high pressure cleaner it is certainly possible you got water on one of the sensors or something else affecting it.

As far as I know the only sensor which you could get water into easily would be the oil pressure switch located on the left hand side of the engine close to the battery.

Did you run the car after putting oil in, chances are if you didn't the oil pressure hasn't come up sufficiently. I would run the car for a little bit (lets say 5 - 15 minutes) at idle but the first sign of any strange noises turn the car off immediately.

Put a bit of CRC or WD-40 / RP7 on the electrical connector going to the oil pressure switch which will get rid of any water which may be there.

I know this may sound like a stupid question but have you checked the fluid level?

hey darren

yeah i used a high pressure cleaner

i checked everything fuild level, made sure no wires had some loose
etc etc

last night i got the crc and sparyed the connectors to the oil pressure switch
and all went well
so far no probs
so yeah it was just a bit of water in the connectors
