On my LS1 was a 27nn deep socket from Supercheap

In the sockets section under lock and key

Open ended spanner is what I used, the trick is you put it on and twist the other end of the tool towards the thermo fans and at this angle \ so you got room to spin tool easy as just get the angle correct and it will crack :) wd40 it and it will be even easier.

It becomes a very simple job when you have the right tool. As above, the deep socket ( IMPACT ) version has 6 points and picked it up from Bunnings, job complete. Back to Total Tools for selling me a lemon.

six point versus 12point, the 12 will slip the 6 wont, just did mine, its the overall grab from the 6 point, it cant slip past like the 12

The 12 won't even grab let alone slip. For sure has to be 6 point deep impact ( or good luck getting a 6 point deep standard )
