[SOLVED] Oil pressure "thing" in filter housing? how to remove???

That appears to be a press fit.

It's a pressure relief valve, why do you need to screw around with it? low oil pressure?

As above, it's press fit and it punches out from the back side of the extension housing.

It's a bypass valve for the oil filter, it's allows oil to bypass the filter when the pressure differential across the filter gets to great.

Was low pres at startup before i started rebuilding the engine, I know you can change the bigger relief valve spring to ecotec to get more oil pres... wanted to check this while im in there.

You don't need more pressure if you have a pressure drop, you either need more restriction, IE bearing clearance (less) or more pump flow.

A weak oil pressure spring will show lower than normal pressures but then maybe it also had bad bearings etc?
