Oil pressure vt

Hi all. Does anyone know what it means when oil pressure light keeps coming on? The car has lost power and sounds "dry". I changed the sensor but no change. It has plenty of oil and is still golden in colour.

The oil pump could be worn and lacks pressure.

happened to my VT

I stopped the car dead in traffic when my light went on
checked dipstick etc ..was frantic for a while .......

take off the oil filter if it is dry then you know

fit an aftermarket oil pressure guage
to get an accurate oil pressure reading
go from there

Is it possible it could be a blockage? I drained the oil and replaced the filter but still the same. Is it worth doing a flush?

You could try a thicker grade oil if the oil pump or bearings are getting worn. A lot of high km motors don't like 15w40 too thin when it gets hot.
