hey guys

I have a 2007 omega with the timing chains finally on its last legs engine idealling just under 1000 rpm
At lights or in park with it making a noise
Took it to a mechanic he said around 4000
Bucks to repair.
Not really wanting to pay that.
So my dilemma here is
Would it be worth selling it with the problem and if so what would it be worth
$500 $1000 etc
Or sell it to scrap and parts and see what I get
It's a LPG so the system I have been told is one of the better ones that Holden came out with.
It still runs and gets going but takes a little effort to make it go.
Any help. Would be great

4000 sounds too high there should be places around that will do it much cheaper.
The parts for this job are now cheaper than they used to be, mechanic may not know this or just wants your money...

Question: How many K's does the vehicle have?

BTW - The "Mechanic" - tell it they are dreaming @ $4K... its at least 1 - 1.5 days work(8-12Hr) @ 100(MAX)/Hr=$800-1200 + parts...so the whole job should not be more than $2-2.5K

Car just hit 190000
Yeah I felt like the mechanic didn't want to do it.
And just went high and hoped I would leave.
Looking around 3200 from Holden dealer.
