Hello All

Over my Christmas break I will be replacing my headlining. I was wondering about putting sound deadener sheets onto the roof to act as insulation. Has anyone tried this and what were your results. Also keen to hear from other people, do you think this will make any difference?

Thanks

Thank you Fu Manchu and 07GTS but I think i mislead you, I was thinking of THERMAL insulation. The pink bats won't fit.

i have packed some roof insulation in various parts on mine, a light amount above the sunglasses holder in the roof as they get super hot in summer there, and in the sides of the boot and under the parcel shelf which also helps with the sound stops all the vibration

Give it a try. 4 sheets of that stuff Fu linked to against the roof would help with heat and noise. I would do inside the doors as well if taking the trim off for some reason. Not sure how much gap there is behind the head lining for anything thicker?

There’s a good air gap.
I also used felt on top of the headliner and the white teddy bear stuffing style insulation. That’s cheap as from Spotlight.

When I did my VP, it took a long time to heat up in summer.

It makes a difference. I have it in my doors too. Did it on my VP ute, then on my Crewman and now on the Cross8. All the same. Trim panels have sound deadner and felt underlay where that can fit as well.
