Can anyone tell me why an orange engine symble light would come up on my dash? It only appears after a long wait at traffic lights, then go's out 1 miniute after driving off again.
Short idle periods at lights are no problem. (no light no problem)
The temperature gauge never go's above normal, oil and water levels o.k.
Also it is not idleing as smooth as it used to, is it time for new plugs?
It's done 117000k uses no oil and I get 590k out of 68 liters of 98.
I would'nt call my driving conservertive, but I dont hoon around as much as some people.
Whatda yous rekon?

Could also be low oil pressure, try an oil change, use a decent quality oil :)

When the engine warning light comes on it registers a fault code on the computer. If you don't know how to read the fault codes take it to Holden and they will do it, or buy a workshop manual and you will be able to do it yourself. Or you could search the forum on how to do it, it's there somewhere, I wrote a detailed description the other day for some ingrate.

I think it could be your oil pressure switch. I had a similar problem once before

Could be hose leak

Exactly the same thing happened to my Gen3 VT, found 2 holes in one of my hoses, had it replaced and the light hasn't come on since.
