paint help? scratched n marked car

hi i just got a 13 yr old vr comm ex

it s got about 100 tiny small hole in the orginal white paint

and scratched up, cracked up piant on the platic bumpers
some areas of small minor rust, like under tail lights, little bit of rust in some marks on doors

ive started touchin it up
using a pen of car paint but it looks bad as the new paint is raised up, higher then the orginal paint
and even thu its color matched, it looks diff?

ive got spray paint too, i was goin to use that on the areas bigger then 2 inchs wide?

am i better off paying a proff to repaint my cars marks, how much may this be?
hundreds of dollars?
every panel, door etc has 5 to 20 marks, or scratches each

what about the cheapest white repaint of the whole car, would that be less than $2,000?

I reckon get a pro to patch it up... cos it sounds dodgy... you might not be doing a bad job, just what your saying doesnt sound to healthy
And for a respray the price will vary greatly depending on how much of the prep work you do yourself, meaning less the spray painter has to do, but yeah you could probably get it for under 2 grand
