After some drilling of the "cage" I made to support the unit behind the surround I managed to keep the usb plug in the Iriver and have the other end of the download usb cable in the glovebox so when I want to add files I can just take my laptop to the car and plug in an extention usb cable. Well that's the theory anyway, Haven't tried that side of it yet. But if that doesn't work for whatever reason, then yeah I'll have to remove it to add files. No real biggy tho, I've based the "cage" on the head unit lock idea so all I have to do is insert 4 hooks into the corners where the Iriver doesn't quite meet the surround and it pops out then just inplug it. but shhhhh don't tell anyone, I don't want people knowing how it steel it.

get Phreddy to poke around inside the unit to see if he can sort out your power problem too
