Petrol fumes

Noticed over the past few days fumes around the rear of the VX. Usually only smell it inside, when first start the car(very mild smell, after a min or 2 it's gone), or when you turn the car off and get out. Checked under the bonnet, but couldn't smell anything there. Haven't had a chance to jump under the car as yet, but a quick look showed no signs of a leak.

A few months ago, the sender played up, but since then, its been fine and I haven't worried about replacing it. Could it be the pump?
