Now that brings back memories. The approach into Kai Tak was certainly interesting. My preference was always for the pilot in the right seat to fly the approach and landing as he could keep sight of the runway all the way. The overhead panel hid it from the LHS pilot during the turn until very late.
The alternate was the Air NZ approach by delaying the turn onto the runway till the last moment and using a lot, and I mean a lot, of bank.
