Plastic Enine Cover

i have a ve sv6 and was wondering if anyone had pulled their plastic engine cover off... I have just removed mine but when i did i noticed there is a whole lot of insulation underneath it ... i was wondering if the engine cover served any practical purpose (like protecting the bonnet paint) or if it was just to make the engine look neat

It's to keep noise down and make it a bit neater.

No I've had mine off for nearly two years now and now problems with paint.

My cover was removed when I got my LPG conversion.
So I assume it isn't needed. :boxing:
