VS ute
My car is a 2000 vs ute - v6 getrag 5spd, I just finished installing a billet shifter and now I can't select reverse. It's like when you move the shifter to reverse its physically can't go into gear and in can only go in to 4th - next to reverse (5th is a little hard to get into as well), i did tighten the selector linkage under the car with shims but I though that would have helped with gear selection, cheers for any advise people

Try taking the shims out.

yea might have to, has anyone fitted a billet shifter to a 5 spd getrag and had any problems afterwards?

fixed the problem, the shifter was hitting the base plate before it found the reverse gate, just moved the plates out for enough clearance, but now i don't have reverse lights ffs, any ideas?

Ahh, you mean those little plates you need to set to prevent you pushing the shifter to far and abusing the synchro's.

all sorted now, holy s#$t its different to shift now, feels like a race car gearbox, tight solid very close gears, it has reduced the throw by 75% barely feels like it goes into gear
