well one thing has had me wondering for a little while.

do v8 supercars have abs?

i've never really known forsure and we do see the occasional wheel lockup which hints to me no they dont but then again what if the abs was slow orsomething which would cover a second or so delay in the brake pump.

im not 100% sure. though on the other hand if they dont have abs v8 supercar must be damn hard. between shifting braking turning and watching out for someone else trying to squeeze past you must make them awesome drivers.

i would make an outcry demanding they put it in but that would take all the fun and mroe importantly, the skill out of it. nothing like some driver forgeting who he is for a second only to wind up sliding right off the track

i may be wrong, but i believe a SKILLED driver can outbrake an abs braking system in most cases. (especially dry bitumen).
also, it would take the fun out of it.

Yep you are wrong, talk to the PBR test driver's who test brakes 12 hours a day 5 days a week. They will tell you straight out that even the best of driver's cant pull up a car as well as ABS can. I beleive a while back Ayrton Senna and McLaren did a promo of ABS F1 vs Non ABS F1, was something like 29 metres further stopping difference without ABS. Now imagine the differences around a racetrack.

Hmmm, hadn't heard anything about that, I might just go look it up. The ABS used on a race car would have to be setup differently than a road car though, also, it might adversely affect the feel of the car. Would be interesting to see it implemented in a racing series, just for fun.

If they decided to run an ABS system on the cars I doubt that they would be able to fine tune the brake bias on the fly. Remember that they have a constant struggle keeping the car in trim over varying fuel loads & tyre conditions.

I know they are not Commodores and are therefore irrelevant, but in Carrera Cup they run ABS. (Or if they don't this year they did last year - or is it new for this year - I can't remember)
