So Rudd has decided to make even more money from us, by charging us $1 more for every can or bottle of any premixed drink that we buy, thats... Well, its a hell of a lot of money for them, an ill bet we dont see it go to any REAL benefit, so stupid preventative health system or something, it would be better used to help reduce fuel prices, or to fix our roads properly, or maybee some other usefull idea, and to add insult to injury, they did it to us WITHOUT even a minutes warning, i was planning on having a few drinks tonight to celebrate my mates daugter being born, but now, i what i could get for 16, will cost me 22, so now i have to buy 3 cans less or so, which is no fun :( I think the Coca Cola Co. is gonna start makin some more money outta me, ill be gettin bottles of drink, and mix it myself, im not gonna give the government anymore of my hard earned $$ than i have to

It's not just the government, a couple of the large manufacturers have decided to stop making some types of pre-mixed drinks as well (mostly the high alcohol ones) as the young underage drinkers were unfortunately the biggest market for the drinks

The cost of pre-mixed drinks rises with every CPI increase but your local bottle-o, club or pub usually absorbs one or two CPI increases

You are much better off mixing your own anyway, especially with the quality of the mixers the manufacturers use being below the standard of the name brand products like Schweppes, Coke, etc

I don't drink regulary, so i couldn't give a Fryer Tuck. If it means i'll pay an extra $1 per few cans of a pre mixed drink on the odd occasion i do drink, so be it. I'm not gonna whinge, it's not going to do anything, so i'll save my breath.

Exactly. I hate to sound ignorant or just plain stupid here, but i couldn't give a **** about underage drinking. Some parents need to enforce a little more disipline (sp?), and bottle shops should be checking I.D more often. I know those 2 things are only 2 of many ways kids can get alcohol etc, but my sister turned 18 last week, and she looks alot younger than 18, for her birthday, she went to an Irish Bar at Knox city down here in Melbourne, she didn't get asked for I.D on entry, nor at the bar.

After that she wanted to test a bottle shop with her friends and went inside and bought a single UDL, they didn't ask her for I.D either. And believe me, my sister looks like she is about 14.

Underage drinking is a problem but making it for expensive wont do **** all. Make the grog stonger and cheaper so more of these little fairies get liver damage. People dont learn by hearing how bad something is, they learn when their best mate is dead becuase they drank too much. Toughen up, pay more for your booze!
