problems with new exhaust on VZ sv6

he recently got a 2 1/2inch cat-back exhaust put on his VZ SV6.... basically, now it runs a bit strange, gear changes are a bit off and when in P or N he cant rev his car over 4000rpm, it has a cut.....

Does anyone know why this is? Im guessing he'll need a tune/re-map for the exhaust...or is there some other way? reset ECU, etc?

try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes (neg terminal) this usually fixes some computer problems after installing aftermarket parts

The cars computer will limit revs to 4k in neutral or park. I would try disconnecting the battery for 10 as suggested above, this will not allow you to rev it past 4k but it should reset the cars ecu paramaters and allow it to re-learn them with the new free flowing exhaust.

The ECU doesn't learn anything, it compensates. The shift points would have changed in the transmission due to the different exhaust.

A 2 1/2" single is not the right exhaust for the SV6, IMO. I would have gone a twin, or the one that I recommend is the 2 1/4" twin into 3" single.

The revving issue is normal.

NAAF - Twin 2 & 1/4 into 3 is what i have, and that shiz is the mad note!
Really cuts the highway drone down too! (i have had 3 different exhaust configurations now, and this is definitely best)

Just curious, why do you want to rev is past 4k in P or N anyway?

so after fitting new exhaust you have to get the car retuned to get the most out of it, or can you just disconnect the battery for 10 mins like someone said up further and that will fix any problems.? if needs a tune how much roughly does that cost?

Disconnecting the battery just resets the PCM back to factory defaults.

To get the most out of any car you need to tune it, but by just fitting the exhaust it will give you a godd noticeable improvement.

i got a 2 1/2 cat back exhaust with hotdogs fitted the other day, since been fitted it now has an aweful drone at about 1800rpm at about 100km/h which is the worst for cruising and is driving me insane. is there any way to fix this problem without removing my new exhaust?
