An old classic by Maurie Field
A man was walking along a creek one really hot day, and as there was no one around he decided to cool off with a quick dip. He placed his clothes on the bank, neatly folded with his hat on top, then plunged into the cool, refreshing water. he swam around for a while, throughly enjoying himself, then he decided he'd better get out and get dressed before anyone came along.
He swam to the bank, and he had just hauled himself out of the water when two women appeared, casually strolling along the path beside the creek.
When they spotted him, standing there naked, dripping, astonished and embarressed, they just couldn't help do anything but burst out laughing.
Quick as a flash, the man grabbed his hat and used it to cover the bare essentials.
"If you were real ladies," he said,"you wouldn't be laughing."
"And if you were a real gentleman," one of the women replied,
"you would raise your hat."
