Race Engine Mechanic Apprenticeship Advice Please

To be honest I think you would be disappointed with the pay. As a 4th year apprentice light vehicle mechanic I take home 615 a week which is above average wage. But if you like what you're doing, I guess that may not bother you

Why do all these mechanic threads always lead to "the pay's ****".

My mate owns his own shop and yeah as an apprentice the pay is ****, he makes a killing now.

Anyway, I'm pretty certain as well that no where will take you in for unpaid work. They might be able to work out some sort of work experience period if you're still in school, though since you're in your HSC period you won't be in school for long.

I guess ask around a few shops, see what they say, there's no harm in asking for info about the industry
