Yeah I get what you mean, right near the tie rod ball joint, right behind the washer, an area that's less 'shiney', can see it in the pics, so I'l use the stilsons on that section.

Need to replace rack end on VR. Is there a step by step I can look at? Should I undo the rack end before the tie rod?
Cheers fellas.

They will unscrew off the end of the rack but you need to either take the steering rack out and support the rack gear in a vice or ther eis a special tool to clamp around it. This is to prevent a twisting torque being applied to the meshing point of the rack an dpinion and busting the teeth on the gears. It's a 30 minute job by a mechanic I would take it there as they have the tool and it's a big job to take the whole rack out.
