I love the V8's, the parity has evened out the competition so you dont see one car dominating all the time. Jamie Whincup has dominated the last couple of years but there was some good competition and he had to work for the wins. Back in the late 90's early 2000's Skaife dominated with a car that was a cut above the resat because HRT had a bigger budget. Control tyres and brakes etc have evened the playing field because all of the teams are using the same components regardless of their budget.
As for being commercialised, well its an expensive sport and the money has tocome from somewhere.
The equivalent of the good old days is the Bathurst 12hr race, all different makes on the track at once, its a great race to watch and no one goes to it. TV channels give it bugger all air time and many of the big name sponsors arent interested. Matt
