i had a set of pacemaker headers fitted a while back and they where 2nd hand so will have a look today!

Lifters typically when hot hold her just above idle (I think 1500rpm from memory) you should hear a fair rattle out of her at the right revs in neutral

I still reckon replace the plugs, can get ngk std for $26 and check the gap is set right. Even if it's not the issue should replace plugs every yr. Definitely do what sircruise said and double check where the noise is coming from.

Top end rattles

Take the drive belt off and see it it still rattles. If it doesn't, check the crankshaft pulley for movement.:w00t:

mines rattles aswell, but only after i back off when reving it in neutral. what could it be

ive been thinking it could be the drive belt actually! will check it out!

Engine Rattle

Food for thought, my VR doing same thing after reco box, changed harmonic balancer still there. Suspected torque convertor, BUT turned out to be a flogged out bush on the right hand harmonic shaft. bad new is engine has to come out.
