G’day guys I’ve got a RB30TE that I’ve just bout and it’s got an aftermarket temp gauge on the dash that runs around 180 degrees c. Cars definitely not overheating so I just want to find out what other guys cars are running at. Cheers

Yep, what he said.
The Nissan engine runs a LOT cooler than the GM Buick (VT-VZ) engines.
The thermostats on some 90's Jap engines start opening at 71 degrees Celsius.

As everyone said man that's right where the thermostats opening in a 30 cooling systems working perfectly.

Out of curiosity what has a factory fitted 71? Have seen aftermarket 77s but never less then an 82 factory fitted.

The high temperature is apparently to help combustion burn and increase fuel economy/emissions hence most people with a worked super 6 or ls will drop a lower thermostat in to keep it cooler and more knock retardent.
