Anyone installed a 12v plug in the blank panel for the rear seat occupants in the VF? Thought it was weird it doesn't have one there, even the Sri-z Cruze has it!

I didn't have one until you asked.

the back panel of the console pops off pulling it towards the back seat.
you will see I have drilled the hole for the socket low on the back panel and that's because there is crap above it that will hit when you put the panel back on the console, where I put the plug it will clear the console.
once you do all of that just splice into wires for the 12v socket inside the console next to the usb/aux.

here are some pictures if you decide to do it, I have a spare console on the bench upside down in some of the pictures to show you the wiring and fit of the plug when the back panel is on.

I have a range of spare vf parts and one of them was the 12v socket from the inside the console so I just repurposed that.
if you do find a vf 12v socket to use the hole I drilled was a 28mm hole.

Where did you run the power from? Did you piggy back it off the centre console socket? If so, did you have to take the console out?

I just spliced into the wires for the 12v socket inside the console.
I didn't have to take the console out I just ran the wire from the back socket up into the hole for the 12v socket inside the console.
this picture shows where the wire sort of runs, this is on a spare console upside down so you are looking up from under the console if it was in the vehicle.

Finally done this to my car. Great to have a socket in the rear of the car now too.
