Rebuilt LSD from ebay.

I thought i might post this up to warn some people as i got the shock of my life. Unfortuently i cant name the person that did it. But it was bought from ebay as a reco with new bearings for $350 plus $25 postage. I went to take it to my diff guy to get it installed with a ration change. With all his work he likes to check everything before work is commenced so he stripped the LSD. When we got it opened we found a 50cent piece used as a shim, it was bone dry and rusting inside and from the looks of it hes used a angle grinder to clean it all up. Just thought i might give you all some warning if your planing on buying one from ebay..

Haha, i dont think anyone would take the 50cents. Cant beleive the work done to it. I would love to name and shame him but its "slander" and not aloud on the forum.. But.. He is selling a 28 SPLINE LSD diff center (how he spells centre) for $325 and $25 postage on ebay currently.

Perhaps he picked it up from somebody that jipped him and he never opened it assuming it was rebuilt ?

I had a really good experience with my diff from ebay. Got an r33 diff for $100 or so and he threw in a free swaybar, he even took it to my specified delivery place because it was a hell of alot cheaper.

Not the same guy of course, just pointing out some people on there are champions.

Yea i did. I was happy with his service and postage time. If it wasnt for the bloke installing the diff wanting to make sure its fine, i would have never have known, installed it and broke it in the first 5mins due to there being no lube.

What does the rest of the diff look like?

There is a LOT of wear on the spider gear teeth, what sort of clearance does it have been between the cone face and the diff housing?
