I know they might not neccessarily be classified as "metal" but Sevendust are awesome!! They are kinda heavy, but also melodic and you can actually understand the singing (which is epicly good!) unlike all the screamo "metal" bands out there these days.
This is one of my favourite songs of theirs, it gives a good example of what they are like.
