Hi Guys,

Looking for recommendations on picking up a crate motor out of the USA to replace my GenIII in the WH Caprice I have.

Also how do I make sure it is a genuine just bolt in. What specifically do I need to ask for?

Thanks,

CB

Maybe a tad overkill putting a $20k engine into a $2k car.

I don't think you can buy a new GENIII anymore as they no longer make them, I may be wrong, may have to recond your engine or update to a
6 litre or a 6.2 litre from the GEN 4 family. Quite a few hurdles to jump if updating to the later engines though.

OK thanks for the pointers there. Can I ask then who are the better rebuilders in Brisbane and how long can I expect the car to be out of action? It is my daily driver.

I know a guy in Brisbane, he is even on this forum.
I know he has a spare engine that will fit in your engine bay.
The engine and transmission bolted together and sitting on the floor of his garage right now.

He is also a mechanic, with too many projects at the moment. (I just checked)
