Hey I've just bought a different instrument backing in Yellow from an SS/S and I have looked in my Gregory's on how to fit it. It says that the clusters are only sold as complete units, so they don't show how to pull it apart.

I assume plenty of people have done something like this themselves? Just thought I'd ask before I went into it. Well, I'm still waiting for the backing to arrive actually.

Thanks

Its pretty easy to replace.

Obviously you'll need to pull the dash apart to get to the cluster.
Search will tell u how to do that.

Then wot I did was take note of the needles b4 removing them, The cluster is easy to pull apart, clips together.
I used a kitchen fork to pull the needles up.
The backing should come off farily easy.
Then roughly put the needles ack on. Plug the cluster back in.
Use the hidden menu to access the cluster check, where all light illuminate and the needles move to the centre.
Tacho n speedo should be on 3 thousand rpm n the fuel n temp should b on the moddle bar. Do this b4 removal to kow where they should be.

Its not too hard. Shame your not in Sydney, i'd offer to help ya out.

Cheers, Keegan

Mate, if I'd found anything I wouldn't have made this thread.

I'm not too sure how to do this, I'll do a search now.

to get into that hidden menu, press and hold the mode button and the up arrow, turn the reds on and release the up arrow and mode button then press mode to flick thru the option until you get to the one you want.. you cant miss it as everything lights up and it makes a noise..

Thanks Spyper that makes all the dash removal look like a piece of cake.

Can someone confirm that the part infront of the backing (think its called the bezel?) is a seperate part and can be painted?

If you maen the plastic part that is inside the cluster and goes around the backing.
Then yes it comes out and can be painted.

Well today is the day I wanted to do this but I have to play hockey at 3 o'clock, which means I need my car. I'm going to have to pull it all apart and paint the bezel this afternoon and do the rest tomorow. Damn.
