VE SV6
Hello, I recently purchased a VF2 SV6 which was previously used on the open road lots. I'm in the city and I've noticed the gear change is undecided when driving at 55-60km/h. It seems to hover between gear changes. I have resorted to driving in sports mode at this point. I wondered if there was a way to reset the memory of the trans/ecu by disconnecting the battery and draining the memory in order for the ecu to relearn. Is this a thing? Thanks

No. That is the stuff of decades past. 1988 or similar.

An ECU/M can’t be reset.

If your car is doing the things, you need a half decent scan tool to be able to find why.

you will cause more problems than you solve by disconnecting battery
just leave shifter in drive
you are confusing the poor girl keep going into sports mode
it will learn if you stop tricking it
unless there is a fault which nothing will reset

What’s the ODO reading? I’d probably suggest getting that “sealed for life” gearbox serviced if the car has done more than 60k and you are not sure if it’s been serviced before. Mine - 2016 Calais V V6, 67k kms - drives a lot more smoother post the service.
