Hey guys I am thinking of buying a rip shift for my SS just for a better feel/ tighter box. Has anyone got any feedback on them? And has anybody installed one themselves as thats what I will be doing. Thanks in advance :)

They work great but are a bit of a pain in the ass to install, i had to lower the gearbox down to get access to the front bolts of the shifter.

I bought my SS with one already installed. Feels so much better than the longer stick - I've had to instal lengthened shifters and then modified the area around the shifter before on body-lifted 4wd's before (definitely not fun). Not sure if it would be as hard as that though.

Someone on here just drilled holes in the tunnel to access the front two bolts so they didn't have to lower the box or jack up the car.

They're good but are really overpriced. It's very stiff at first but loosened up after a few days of driving.

You can buy ripshifter clones for $100 bucks these days on ebay which work good as well, feels the same to me when compared to the 495 buck rip shifter.

Driven my mates and mine with genuine and clones and exactly the same.

I've got the GM Motorsport ripshifter on mine it's great. Never used the factory one though :p

A factory one is like doing a porn star, all floppy and loose and you know its had the **** bashed out of it for its whole life.

A ripshifter is like doing a virgin, all tight and a bit of crying until you get used to it :p since the short shifter most people generally miss gears and swear and cry a bit with the grinding :p.
