Really you live in such a place where you have to worry about people stealing your number plates?
thats sad...

No wonder you don't have your location listed in your profile, we'd all want to come and live there!

Except if you ever need to remove the bar....

Reversible screws are crap lol. Just means the prick stealing them will destroy your bar in the process. Better to just let them take them.

Looking at your picture, what's the concern? It's not like you have specialised custom plates or anything.

Reversible screws available from AutoPro. I got them because I have custom plates. Less than $10, they install with a standard screwdriver and if you keep your receipt you can go back to the shop you bought them from and they have a special attachment that will take off the security screws and allow you to reuse them.

And I wouldnt rivet number plates on. More screws = more damage. I'd rather have my plates remade for $50 then having a panel beater charge me $1000 to repair and respray the entire front guard. Like has already been said, if someone really wants your plates they will take them.

Security screws, number plate covers (maybe even superglue these on if you are really worried), and that should be more than enough to deter most thieves. Actually, there's nothing stopping you gluing the plates onto the bumper with liquid nails and THEN security screwing them in place. That's getting a bit extreme, but I guess it's just another way to lock it all down. How far do you want to go?

I suppose I was also trying to think in a "community minded" manner and try and prevent petrol drive-offs and other crimes that number plate thefts often result in. Also, the hassle of advising insurance, CityLink, police etc and dealing with Vic Roads to replace the plate.

Anyway, I've got many options and thanks for the replies.

Merry Xmas.

if you were to rivit them on i would place a washer behind the plastic so the rivit grabs on the washer and spreads the load. or else it will just pull straight through the plastic

Hit up coventry fasteners for security fasteners, and they'll sell you the security bit to undo them too.. snake eye drive ones are probably the best go off the top of my head

I used to live in St Kilda and one day I went down to the basement and found someone had nicked ONE of the plates off my old Honda. Went to the cop-shop to report 'theft of number plates' and they pulled out a form. I said, it's only the one and then they pulled out a different form. Then I said, by the way, they put THEIR plate on MY car in its place... Second form goes away, pulls out third form. Needless to say, the idiot driving around with my plate didn't take too long to find given they left me their rego . What a tool! BTW, the only reason they didn't get the other plate was I parked the nose of the car right up close to the wall so people couldn't get at the front of it. Cheap and effective!
