Rough idle when hot

Hello All,

It has been a long journey on resolving problems with my VS 11 but getting there :thumbsup: .

Need suggestions on what can be causing a rough idle when the engine gets hot. It runs smooth when cold to 1/4 temp but gets rough when 1/4 to 1/2 when the fan kicks in.

Could it be an idle sensor, injectors or an air leak, if so how to test.

Has any experienced this problem.

Note: I fixed the excessive fuel problem by changing the O2 sensor and earth wiring. I think VS is known to have bad earth wiring to O2 sensors .

Could try clean the idle air control on the throttlebody...

check ur leads and spark plugs maybe, mines got a dead oxygen sensor and base idle is out
thats why mine is rough idle

I have checked the leads and they are within ohm spec.
The spark plugs are new.

Will try and clean the intake and idle valve.
Also will change both gaskets this weekend and see how we go.

how about ur fuel filter and air filter and oil filter?

yes both the fuel and oil filters are good. I had the fuel filter and fule presure regulator changed last week hoping that was the problem. The new fuel regulator improved performance but not the idle when hot.

tried disconnecting battery for a while the connecting again, reseting the ecu

what sort of air filter arrangement are you using, could be that its sucking hot air and getting a bad A/F ratio and flooding itself, have a smell of the exhaust and smell if its fuel

i think its on near the throttle body, a 3 pin clip underneath it i think
