RPM number

I have found a 253 blue in colour block and have searched Holdenpaedia and can not find out what car the engine is out of. The number starts with RPM,Or BPM and I thought most 253s only had 2 letters in there number.Have I found a rare motor or just a special build. Any help would be great.

RPM is the name of a company that rebuilds/recos engines. They put their own engine numbers on, starting with RPM.

Thanks for that. I thought it was illegal to alter an engine number.

No it's not. Only if you alter it and don't tell the proper licensing authority. When reconditioning, it is very common to restamp the engine number as technically, it's not the same engine.

Gday I found this old forum does anyone know the name of the company that stamps rpm ? Is it rpm engines in Qld ? Have a 308 stamped rpm
