Rubber Burn Smell

Was coming home from Gippsland in Vic. on Sunday a drive of 300km when I stopped and got out of car there was a very strong smell of burning rubber,it went away in about 2 minutes.
I had a good look around the front of the car tyres engine and could not see any thing wrong.
Has anyone got any ideas of any hoses that are close to the engine or anything I should look for.:cry:

maybe it was a car you where following or something like that????

Might be the power steering. People are reporting smoke and/or burning smell from their power steering oil.

mayb after driving 4 so long ur tires where hot giving off the smell of rubber its happend 2 me a few times after getting home on a hot day and tires are hot u can smell rubber

how long have you had it?
mine had a bit of a burning rubber or plastic smell when she was new after a decent drive.

I rang the Dealer and they told me to check under the car the exhaust pipe because quite often plastic bags get caught on the pipes.
So I checked under and guess what, there was a big black plastic bag melted onto the exhaust pipe.
It has almost melted off, one more day and it should be gone. Hooray!!
