Security Light - Help!

Hey i just recently upgraded from my VK to a VS II Equipe. I cut the old triple colour flashing led out and was gonna change the security led in the VS over to the coloured one. Found a prob though.... The old led has a small bit right behind the led that makes it flash and change colours and the old led flashes somewhere else in the car i'm assuming. When i hooked it up it just flashes one colour now and looks really bad. Does anyone know where the part that makes this security led flash is? I would like to cut it out so the light works properly.

It is flashed by the Body Control Module, not an easy thing to bypass
