this is probably a stupid question but I thought it would be best to ask here. so I'm starting to do my own maintenance on the car and just fixing stuff on the car I have like barely any knowledge but I'm learning along the way so the question is that I wanna do an oil change on my car as when I first got it I got it serviced at a mechanics but I'm not sure what oil they used (not sure if this matters) but I was thinking of using Penrite HPR 15 15w-60(full synthetic) as I was told Penrite is a good brand to use and that is what is being recommended to me by Penrite on their website. so I just wanted to confirm if that's okay as you guys know what you're doing. thanks any advice is appreciated

sorry i am going to disagree
full synthetic will keep engine wear to a minimum and help to clean existing buildup in oil passages
i only use full synthetic in any engine with roller cams
a quality synthetic 10w30 would be my choice
holden specifies 10w30, if 10w30 not available up to 20w40

full synthetic is over kill in the old vt v6 eco and holden put in 20/50 mineral oil when it was new and it only holds about 4 1/2 litres, this is what use in my vs ute

change the oil and filter every 5000ks the prices vary and brand doesn t matter best time is to get it when it on special

https://www.google.com/search?q=20/50+oil&oq=20/50+oil&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l4j0i22i30l5.8440j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
looked on supercheap but it says it doesn't fit my car

I’ve put full synthetic stuff in my commodore, if you’ve got the money best to get the best stuff.

You want a high zinc oil in the Eco.

looks good to me
would it matter if the old oil before is different and they end up mixing as I just looked at a owner's manual online and it says 20/50 but when i look at 20/50 on repco/sca says it doesn't fit my vehicle but if it doesn't matter i would go with the photo i sent above to you and thank your for helping I appreciate it alot.

owners book for vx which is same engine says 10w30
engine oil does not matter if it mixes
beware a lot of the parts stores "what fits my vehicle" are incorrect
anything from 0w30 up to 20w50 would be ok depending on the temperature where you live
SA is mild so 10w30 would be ideal, up to 20w50 would be fine
