one of the people on here found a free download manual which may help you getting started
it is not 100% accurate, but a good starting point
scroll down then download vt-vu workshop manual

VE Series I SS Ute
SCA have Nulon full syn 10w 40 6L for $40. I bought two online today and got $10 off ($70 all up). I'm normally around the $100 mark for oil alone on the VE. Penrite is good but it basically never comes on a decent sale.

VT.
My VT says 10w 40 usually go higher as the engine ages with lots of miles on it, 60 weight a overkill, you know what blood clots do to your heart aspirin thins the blood so it pumps through your body with ease, so going 60 may increase your pressure but not lubricate as quick, I have used penrite 10w 40 + 10 as my car on LPG once, I usually get what ever on special at the time like magnatec 10w 40 as it goes 1/2 price, also get a good oil filter cheap ones seal sometimes leak.
