Hi have a question about shifting auto manually.
I have a BT1 V8 and have heard that the shifter and auto where setup different for the cops so they could do manual shifting
Is that true?

Cheers

I've heard the BT1 had a different gate on the auto shifter allowing it to to be moved between OD, D and 2 without having to pull up the lever, not just OD and D, no difference in the trans itself though.

Manual shifting shouldn't be a problem, but if you're slamming it down and doing compression lockups or hard engine braking the auto won't like it to much.

People would grind down notch so they could drop down a gear...probably sounded better or felt quicker than waiting for kickdown.

Doubt it was any improvement over a cop chip...
