Yes, that is another issue. the quickest solution would see the government legislate a mandatory minimum sentence for vehicular manslaughter/alcohol of a minimum 9 years then those soft judges would have no other option. Even then you'd get parole on good behaviour in 4.5 years.

This is all getting of track though so I think it's about time Airstrike posts some more firearms porn.....

You know what I do when people talk of gun control, I buy another gun or some more ammo.

Ordered a 30" Lilja barrel in .338" for a project. Now I can have fun at even further distances!

Next to a .308

Looks like my rifle is now a single shot!

Considering time on target at 2000 meters I don't think that's going to be an issue.

3.7 seconds flight time for 2000 yards by my calculations.

I'm keen to try out some long range hunting. I have always been confident in my ability to make the shot, no so much on the energy for a clean kill.
My new setup will have the same energy at 1000 yards that a .308 with a 165gr projectile has at 200 yards.

You know you have lost an argument when you start banging on about suicide rates. Want to off yourself, go ahead.
I notice the article didn't go into the fact that violent crime went up after 96.

I'm not sure how this is a sign of loosing an argument but anyway lets let that slide.

It did. I'd expect it to over the immediate few years after 1996. After that, as the supply of weapons are somewhat restricted it would taper down as scumbags, at least on a low level would find weapons more difficult/expensive to obtain. According to the ABS, after a peak at about 2000, violent crime (robbery, both unarmed and armed) has steadily declined. Homocide was roughly static till around 2003 before gradually having a 20% gradual decline over the next 10 years.

How much of this is a direct result of Australias altered gun laws? It's impossible to say - there are a huge number of other contributing factors however restricting the supply of guns to the community also restricts the supply to the underworld giving them a higher black market value. This at the very least will price many low level fktards out of the market.

which 338 you doing? , as i've been reading some good stuff on the Edge round.

The 338 win mag was the cal i was initially after for Samba and pigs on the plains, but found them all too heavy gun weight wise.

.338 edge hahaha. Nice and simple, standard long action and magnum bolt face. Just neck up .300 rum brass.

Latest senate enquiry showed hardly any illegal firearms are obtained via thefts, etc from law abiding owners.
Majority are illegal imports. Not hard when hardly any cargo coming in is checked.
So no, restricting supply to the community doesn't restrict the black market.

Left to right: .308 win, .300 RUM, .338 Edge, .338 lap
