That's a 1/2 MOA group @ 1000 yards, plenty of people who can't do that at 100.

Have a look at the Remington 700's.
I have SPS stainless in .243 and its bloody awesome. I'm shooting the eyes out of foxes at 100m.(pics too gory to post :( )
Its around the 9lbs mark with scope, sling and bipod.

Next rifle will be another 700.

What reloads are you doing for the 243?
I'm running Sierra 75gr HP, neck sized brass, 38grains ADI 2208, fed primers and sitting about 0.15mm from the lands. Flying at around 3350fps and 1/2" group at 100 yards.

I only like heavy loads, 100g Sierra gamekings with 38grains of AR2209 @ around 2950fps.

700's seems real hit and miss from reading online and speaking to mates with them, some out of the box are awesome and some group like a shotgun.

They can be picky on the ammo. Mine hates the 80gr rem ammo ( about 2.5" group @100yards) and the 80gr Win ammo (shotgunned), but it loves the Fed 80gr (sub 1" group at 100 yards) These and my reloads are the only things that I've run through it, so I haven't tried any heavier ammo or any other brand.

Heres mine

Try something heavier, mine is a 1:10 twist and loves 100g pills. The Rem is a 1:9 (I looked at them as well) so should shoot them well.

I got a heap of brass off my father in law so decided to 'prep'.

Here is around 820 rounds of hand loaded .223 Remington with 55 grain Hornady Z Max with polymer tips. I've used similar projectiles (Nosler ballistic tips) on foxes and the exit wound is the size of a tennis ball, it's pretty gross especially when you head shot them. One of the foxes I got on the weekend, I hit it in the throat and with the expansion it nearly blew out so much it's head almost came off. I'd say it was just the spine holding it together. No good if you're shooting for skins but great to make sure they die instantly with only one shot, after all, they are feral pests but it's not nice to let them suffer.

Yeah I have gone heavier pills for two reasons, a) less erosion on the barrel and b) less pink mist.
I was using 58 gr V-MAX's by Hornady which are almost 4000fps, shoot flat but on small game just explode.

I've been shooting my brothers 7mm08. Shoots fairly nice, especially since he started re-loading, shoots better than factory loads and cheaper.

I'm thinking of getting a Ruger American in .308

Also really enjoyed archery as a kid but not had a chance to pursue it. My missus isn't really into the whole hunting/shooting scene ever since as a kid one of her uncles ate the wrong end of a 12g
