Spare key problem

So one of my keys is giving me problems. When i use the spare key i am getting intermittent messages about the engine being immobilized and to consult the owners manual. So i thought, ok 10 year old battery, i'll change both keys battery. put new Energized batteries in both fobs along with dieelectric grease for good contact.
My main key is still operating 100% but the spare is still giving me that message about the engine being immobilized please consult owners manual.
Anyone struck this problem before?

Are they both the original keys ? I do know that if you get a spare key cut you have to take all your other keys with you when you get it done so they can all be reprogramed. Its a safety feature incase you misplace one and someone finds it ,it can't be used to pinch your car.

The spare key, does that actually turn in ignition or just get the warning light straight away?

Sounds like a FOB problem. Maybe the chip needs replacing and reprogramming.
