gday, i got a new hei dizzy and procomp coil and i get no spark. i have the 11.6V at the + terminal on the coil, and the leads are all new and fine, the neg side of coil has the black wire from the dizzy, brown wire from tacho, and another wire from the lpg stuff, and the pos side has the ignition wire and the red wire from the dizzy. i don't get any spark on any lead, not even from the coil, does anyone know how i can test the coil for spark seperate from the dizzy to see if thats the problem? cheers

This is a simple way of testing leads, you could do the same with the coil. Place a screw driver in the leads end then place the screw driver near a metal surface, turn the key = you should see a spark "between the screwdriver & metal surface".

** Caution - dont lean to far forward or touch another metal surface while doing this, or you WILL GET ZAPPED!! ** = 2 ppl for this job is easier. 1 to test, 1 to turn the key.

Another easy way to test wiring is to use a digital muiltmeter, set it to 200 - Testing wire volts, battery etc.

i've tried another two coils, it must be the dizzy. does any one know how to check if a hei electronic dizzy with a bosch modualator is dead? or maybe just maybe it could be that i'm not getting a good 12v from the ignition?

No because you need the dizzy to open and close the negative contact of the coil or it aint doing nothing!
If I were you aghatas i'd be checking the wiring on the dizzy.

The coil needs to be opened and closed. This is done via the dizzy, either points or electromagnets opening and closing the earth circuit. I hear what you are saying and I suppose it is possible to hook up a spark plug directly to the coil but you would need to open and close the earth cicuit manually by touching and releasing the negative side of the coil to the engine or body. My bad, I probably should've worded it better.
