So I’ve just changed out all my spark plugs for brand new Bosch ones, during this process I took a few photos, the plenum seemed to have a large amount of oil in it, I cleaned it out same as the throttle body but then also the intake the plenum bolts to was covered, can I remove and clean this too? What’s the cause?
Besides that one of the spark plugs and leads were caked in what seems to be burnt oil? I cleaned it all up before installing the new spark plug, as well as that one of the holes has a large amount of some sort of white stuff? Completely unsure what that could be, any help would be amazing!

A bit of moisture has got in there. The seals on the coils will be a bit how ya going.

Get some silicone paste around the seals when you reinstall.

Some copper paste would help around the coil body.

As for the Lower plenum part, some throttle body cleaner and paper towel will be ok. Blow out with compressed air.

The actual intake, give it a degrease and hose (minus the air flow motor if it has one). Dry with compressed air.

Use the metal type intake plenum gaskets. Torque the bolts to 25Nm.

Throttle body back on. When cleaning that, try not to push the butterfly open and closed. Use paper towel to clean it.

Oil changes every 5000-7500.
5W-30 or Penrite 5W-40.

You can do a spell of 1000-2500kms of diesel oil, the same viscosity. Change the filters every 500kms.

If the cars service history is in unknown, it’s a good idea.

The extra detergent’s in the diesel oils break down and clean the carbon from a poorly serviced Alloytec motor.

Filters can be bought in bulk packs on eBay.

Yeah. Good. But the modification will reduce the schmutz in the intake. If you did from another source, and arbitrarily drilled out the PCV it will make the problem worse. The holes have to be drilled out to a very specific size.

I’ll take it all apart and clean it next time when I do some engine work! Thanks for that much appreciated

The grot in the plenum etc will be from the poor design on the factory PCV sizing.
