Speeding tickets 87kph in 80 zone

hi

im writing this one on behalf of my mum, but she will kill me if she finds out haha.

she got a letter in the mail today for a speeding fine, doing 87(recorded speed) or 84 alleged speed in an 80zone. She doesnt remember it, but knows it was her because she was on the road at that time.

She is 51 and has 33 years clean driving record. The ticket was for $125 or $165 and 1 point. Is there anything she can do, that does not involve paying?

I believe if you have a 2yr clean record, and are booked less than 10 kays over in VIC, you're eligible for a warning.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong? I remember hearing an interview on ABC Radio where a high ranking police official stated this.

in nsw if you go 10 years wothout and ticket, you get an offical warning. we learnt this after i got a speeding ticket, in my mums car:whistling(all my cars and bikes are registered in my mums name) and once my mum rang up about it they gave her an offical warning and cancelled the ticket


btw thats for a minor offence. aka lease then 15 k's over the limit

This is correct, but admit u or her was speeding and that she has a clean driving record.

Yeah a letter to civic compliance will do the trick, stating that it was a unfortunate mistake on her part and will try to never do it again.

Do it as soon as possible, and you shouldn't hear about it again.

yeah had similar situation. got a ticket for 6km over. wrote a letter stating i made a mistake, and that it was my first offence, and i got a warning instead.
