Enough to make it not grey any more, so you can see your silver going on it better i guess. You should also bear in mind, once you spray a coat of silver, its gonna be harder to see where you've been again, and for the next coat and the next coat will be harder still. Maybe just stick to a uniform pattern and go from there. Just make sure that whatever u spray your nice silver onto is all flat n ****, no runs n stuff.

ok, just to save you a lot of time, effort and money. go to bunnings and get 3 or 4 halogen spotlights. you need at least one fluro tube and a couple of halogens. set them up at all different angles and as you are spraying, get your head down so you can see the spotlight in the sheen coming off the gun, the three different types of light (sunlight, fluro tube and halogen) shine a different type of light and will help show how the metallic is sitting, so you can go back over spots that are not right. its a lot harder than starting with an oche or black base, but youve done it now, and IMO this would be the easiest way.
